The next steps in land preservation: advancing the Stein Bond Ordinance on April 15th.
The effort to preserve this critical piece of land is approaching its final and most important step.
On March 12th, the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners voted 3–1 to approve the Stein Resolution purchase—an essential milestone in protecting land that is vital to our community’s character, safety, and environment. Now, the process moves into its final phase.
The bond ordinance that will fund and finalize this preservation will be introduced on April 15th. The workshop meeting begins at 1:00 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 1:30 p.m. in the Commissioner Meeting Room. This is the step that will determine whether this effort is successfully completed.
Community awareness and involvement are critical right now. Residents of Allentown Borough and Upper Freehold Township are strongly encouraged to stay informed, follow the agenda, and attend the meeting if possible. Public engagement at this stage can make a meaningful difference.
If approved, the bond ordinance will secure the funding needed to permanently preserve this land—protecting our scenic byway, limiting the risks of overdevelopment, reducing the potential for increased truck traffic, and safeguarding important environmental resources and wildlife habitats.
This is the moment that will decide the outcome of years of advocacy and community effort. The progress made so far is significant—but without final approval of the bond ordinance, the work remains unfinished.
Now is the time to stay engaged, show support, and help ensure this preservation effort reaches the finish line.
