The Monmouth County Board of Commissioners approved the bond ordinance to preserve the Stein property.
The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners held a public hearing on Thursday, May 14th regarding the bond ordinance to preserve the Stein property. Following the hearing, the Commissioners voted 4-1 to approve the ordinance.
The ordinance appropriated $27,750,000 for the acquisition of property for recreation, conservation, and farmland preservation purposes and authorized the issuance of $22,750,000 in bonds or notes to finance a portion of the project. The approval of the ordinance marked an important step toward preserving the Stein property and helping keep warehouses off Allentown’s border with Upper Freehold Township.
Thank you to everyone who attended the public hearing, spoke in support of the ordinance, attended months of public meetings at Stone Bridge Middle School or Allentown High School, drafted letters or made phone calls to legislators, or protested the development of this land for use by two warehouses.
