Senior Food Assistance Programs
There are specific criteria that seniors must meet in order to be eligible to participate in these programs. These two websites will provide information on the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) and the Seniors Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP).
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program provides seniors with a monthly food package that contains a wide variety of foods – cereal, juice, milk, cheese, fruits, vegetables, protein products; the Seniors Farmers Market Nutrition Program provides locally grown fresh fruits, vegetable, and herbs.
The USDA Food and Nutritioun Service (FNS) provides Federal funding to states to administer food assistance programs for senior citizens.
