Instructions for Plumber Installation of Irrigation Meter Spacer

  • The irrigation meter must be installed after or “downstream of” the domestic meter which is already installed in the house.
  • A tee should be installed within three feet downstream of the domestic meter.
  • The meter spacer supplied by the Borough must be installed in a horizontal position and it must be in an area that is easily accessible without having to use a ladder to install the meter or view the meter dial.
  • Shutoff valves must be installed both before and after the meter spreader. The pipes downstream of the irrigation meter should only go to an outside hose connection or an irrigation system and cannot supply water to other internal parts of the house like sinks or bathrooms.

Learn How to Read Your Water Meter

Simply lift the cover to the water meter and use a flashlight to shine on the solar meter. The display will light up and the screen will alternate between reading the meter and the leak detection screen. If you have any specific questions about your water usage, call Borough Hall at 609-259-3151 and ask for Utilities Billing Clerk Kerry Bruno.

Allentown Consumer Confidence Reports are available online.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection are encouraging water utilities to deliver their Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), commonly referred to as the Annual Water Quality Report, using electronic delivery methods, rather than direct mail, to be more environmentally friendly and cost-efficient.

The following methods available to view the CCR are listed below:

  • Customers who still wish to have a hardcopy of their CCR mailed to them may call the Borough office at 609-259-3151.
